It’s always a good thing to see athletes working to give
back to their community, so when we saw this story, we just had to share.
In April 2013, Tina Charles, a 2-time NCAA basketball champion
and former WNBA MVP, started the Hopey’s
Heart Foundation in honor of her late aunt, Maureen “Hopey” Vaz.
Inspired by Maureen's generous heart, the foundation's goal is to purchase and distribute AEDs to schools all over the country.
Charles had previously made a large donation to the Wes Leonard Heart Team, another foundation dedicated to distributing AEDs. It's named after Wes Leonard, a high school basketball player who died of sudden cardiac arrest following a game in 2011.

Hats off to you, Tina! Keep it up.
